Best laid plans, attempt 2:


This morning, I managed to wake up a full 45 minutes before my children needed to be rescued from their rooms.

It was glorious.

I washed my face, ate a muffin, drank a cup of coffee while it was still hot and came up with my to-do list. I was less panicked when I got the kids going, and we got out the door on time without me getting stressed out.

I had been hitting the ground running and feeling completely exhausted when I got up each morning, but somehow, getting a little less sleep and having those few minutes to myself energized me in a way that extra sleep never has.

I don’t know if this is a fluke or an indication of what it’s like to wake up with an alarm, but I’m going to try this again tomorrow.

Early to bed for me.
